Foodie Friday: Dessert Shot Glasses

I promise you, I’m really not much of a drinker.

I enjoy a few drinks here and there but not crazy with it. More of a “light social drinker” if you want to call it that. But these two recipes I found have little to do with alcohol except that they are shaped like shot glasses. Now answer this: how many shot glasses have you had that are edible?

These dessert “shot glasses” are bound to be a conversation starter at your next party. Cheri from The Watering Mouth makes these from marshmallows and chocolate liqueur (or you can use chocolate milk for non-drinkers/kiddos):

Yum, I love how easy it is to make. Just two ingredients!

The next is a Milk and Chocolate Chip Cookie “Shot” – a DIY version by Brandi, inspired by Chef Dominique Ansel:

Such a great idea for milk and cookie lovers! I would love to see variations of this cookie shot: maybe Chocolate-Chocolate Chip or Sugar cookie? Surely it would be fun to make!

Foodie Friday: Fruit and Wine Sorbet

Last week was fruit for the morning. How about some fruit for the evening? 😉

Wine is on my mind today. Not because I want any at the moment (still a little early for me), but because I’m attending a “wine and cheese party” over a friend’s house tomorrow. I don’t know what kind of wines and cheeses will be served, but I know it will be a fun time! I want to bring something and I searched for ideas on Pinterest and boom, this loveliness came in view: Continue reading

Foodie Friday: Smoothie Bowl

Back to the healthy stuff. 😉

Many people opt for a smoothie or pressed juice drink in the morning when they are trying to get fit and lose weight. I have tried it and realized it is not for me. Not all the time, anyway. I need to physically chew food in the morning just to feel like I’m going to be full or satisfied. I guess it’s a psychological thing.

Lately, the only smoothies I have had are the ones from the store (Bolthouse, Naked, Odwalla) and even those were far and few between. Almost out of nowhere, I start hearing about smoothie bowls. I’m almost positive these things have been out for years and I am just late. What is a smoothie bowl, you ask (if you are clueless like I was)? Essentially it is what it sounds like: a bowl filled with a smoothie.

You make a smoothie with the normal ingredients but blend it a bit thicker in a yogurt consistency. Add toppings like granola or leftover fruit and eat with a spoon. 🙂

Here’s a helpful infographic from Hello Glow on making a smoothie bowl:

Sounds easy enough, right? I really like how the site breaks down the nutrients of each layer. Mind Body Green is another great health site that features other smoothie bowl recipes like these:

Don’t these look more filling than a drinkable smoothie? Maybe it’s the artsy girl in me and the colors make it more appealing to eat? I can look forward to having these throughout the day!

Have fun produce shopping this weekend! 😉

Foodie Friday: Donuts!

I like certain donuts. Dunkin Donuts’ glaze is my favorite in comparison to Krispy Kreme (sorry, not that big of a fan). I do like Krispy Kreme’s raspberry filled donuts. Other than that, eh. Somehow in my super busy week, I had a sliver of time to try out a Philly-based donut shop called Federal Donuts. I’ve heard of the place, even had friends rave about it. For some reason, it never clicked to me to go and try it.

Until Tuesday. Continue reading

Foodie Friday: Garlic Honey Ginger-Glazed Salmon

For some reason, I am the only one in my family who absolutely LOVES salmon. Everyone else like the other basic fish (i.e. tilapia, flounder) and feel as if salmon has too much of a “fishy” taste. Regardless of this fact, I love to find new and easy recipes for it. I found this recipe from Sally (one of my favorite food bloggers) from Sally’s Baking Addiction: Continue reading

Paper Artists at Work: My Faves

I love paper crafts. Always have, always will. I think it really started when I was in 1st grade. My favorite teacher, Ms. Hallam, showed us how to make trees out of toilet paper rolls, flowers out of tissue paper, a wreath using plastic trash bags and so much more. To me, she was the original Pinterest – she had all these cool ideas! Continue reading

Foodie Friday: Chalkboard Cookies

I found another fun foodie project for everyone – chalkboard cookies! This is such a cute idea and is something great to make with the kiddos over the weekend. Look at these lovelies from Ashlee Marie: Continue reading
